Research-based fictional profiles representing user segments to guide design decisions.

Working definition

A UX persona is not decorative: it compresses real behavior patterns, motivations, and frictions the team uses to prioritize and evaluate decisions.

When I use it

  • At project kickoff, to align the team on who we design for.
  • When priorities diverge: the persona becomes a shared decision criterion.
  • Before prototyping critical flows, to check the primary scenario is covered.

Keeping it alive

I update the persona when new research or metrics contradict assumptions. If it no longer influences decisions, it is obsolete.
