Daniel Kahneman (1934–2024) was a cognitive psychologist and economist. His book Thinking, Fast and Slow popularized the distinction between fast, intuitive thinking (System 1) and slow, deliberate thinking (System 2).

In product design and UX, his framework helps explain why interfaces can induce predictable errors, why first impressions are not enough as evidence, and why it pays to design for reduced cognitive load and systematic biases.
