Context — Building Democratic Engagement

Traditional citizen participation in municipal decisions was limited to public meetings and formal consultations, which often excluded many residents due to time constraints, accessibility issues, or lack of awareness.

The citizen participation platform aimed to democratize civic engagement by providing multiple channels for citizens to voice their opinions, vote on initiatives, and collaborate with government on community projects.

My role focused on designing an inclusive platform that would engage diverse citizen groups while ensuring the process remained transparent and trustworthy.

I want to have a say in what happens in my neighborhood, but I can't attend meetings during work hours.

— Resident feedback

The Problem — Limited Civic Engagement

Citizens had few accessible ways to participate in municipal decisions, leading to low engagement and a disconnect between government priorities and community needs.
